I never did pageants growing up, however I could always count on Danny Davis, Executive Director of the Miss Statesville Scholarship Program, to encourage me to when I would run into him at school or driver's ed. He is always there for the young women who hold the titles for the Miss Statesville Scholarship Program. With his caring heart and devoted attitude, he has helped make the organization a success.
After watching yesterday's performance from the current Miss Statesville Queens, including Miss Statesville, Emily Outen, Miss Statesville's Outstanding Teen, Mallory Outen, Miss Statesville's Carolina Princess, Mackenzie Sharpe, and Miss Statesville's Outstanding Teen's Carolina Princess, Callie Henline, I have realized why I never did them: it takes some serious talent, and my golly, these girls have it! From dancing to singing by themselves on stage, to walking around a room full of people in a bikini, these pageant queens truly possess a gift of confidence and poise that not ever American girl has.
I enjoyed watching these young women take the stage last night in their gowns and seeing them perform their talent pieces. The Statesville Chamber of Commerce wishes you the best of luck in Raleigh! Show the rest of North Carolina what Statesville girls are made of!
The Miss Statesville Scholarship Program provides each queen with a scholarship to help further her education. For more information about the organization visit http://www.missstatesville.org/index.php.
